Elizabeth Woodville School Celebrates 'Good' Rating Across Four Key Ofsted Categories

We are pleased to announce the publication of the latest Ofsted report for Elizabeth Woodville School, which operates across two campuses in Roade and Deanshanger in Northamptonshire. During the March 2025 inspection, the school earned a 'Good' rating in four of the five categories, with particular praise for its redesigned curriculum, teaching quality, and pastoral care.

Elizabeth Woodville School, the first school to join the trust in 2016, has undergone remarkable improvement over the years. This progress is attributed to the strong leadership of the Head of Schools and trust leaders, reflecting the school’s commitment to continuous growth and educational excellence.

Emma Reed and Hannah Jones, Heads of School at the Roade and Deanshanger Campuses, expressed, “We are extremely proud of this outcome, which reflects the strength of our school community and the care we have for one another. This report highlights the dedication of our staff, who strive for the highest quality of education and care. It also recognises the kindness and ambition of our students, as well as the vital support from our parents and the wider community. Together, we've created a positive and inclusive environment.”

The report commends the school’s calm, inclusive, and orderly environment. As the inspector highlighted, “Pupils are happy at Elizabeth Woodville School. They are polite and respectful. The school is calm and orderly, and pupils now engage positively with learning activities.”

High expectations are held for all students. The redesigned curriculum has been instrumental in enabling pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), to thrive. Inspectors remarked, “Teachers have good subject knowledge. They use this to explain concepts clearly and provide learning activities that are focused sharply on the knowledge that pupils need to learn. Pupils who struggle to read are well supported to gain reading fluency and confidence. Sixth-form students act as reading mentors for younger pupils, providing extra reading practice.” The school also offers a broad range of extracurricular activities in sports, arts, and crafts, fostering students’ talents and interests.”

Student welfare and personal development remain core priorities. Inspectors observed, “Pupils value the strong pastoral support that the school provides. This includes personalised support for pupils with mental health needs, provided by expert staff. Pupils benefit from detailed guidance about their future education and career opportunities. Students in the sixth form receive excellent personalised support when they apply for university courses or apprenticeships, or when they seek employment.”

Elizabeth Woodville School is committed to enhancing its sixth-form provision to continue to ensure students receive the guided learning time and support required to excel. As a trust, we are immensely proud of the unwavering dedication and leadership demonstrated by our staff, pupils, parents, and the wider community, whose collective efforts have allowed Elizabeth Woodville School to thrive.
