Water Hall Primary School is proud to announce that it has received a Good rating in four out of five categories following its latest Ofsted inspection in July 2025. The report commended the school’s exceptional provision for pupils’ personal development, marking a significant milestone in its journey of continuous improvement.
Since joining The Tove Learning Trust in September 2020, Water Hall Primary has demonstrated remarkable progress under strong and strategic leadership. The school continues to strive for excellence in every aspect of its provision, with a clear focus on nurturing both academic achievement and personal growth.
The inspection highlighted the school’s welcoming ethos and its central role within the local community. Inspectors noted: “Pupils are happy and feel a strong sense of belonging in this friendly and welcoming school.” They also observed, “Staff encourage pupils to grow as people and learners. Pupils behave well and show kindness and empathy to each other. One said, representing the views of many, ‘We look after each other.’” This culture of kindness and care contributes significantly to pupils’ well-being and enjoyment of school life.
Headteacher Emma Seabourne expressed, “I am so proud and grateful to the staff who have been part of our journey. Their dedication and service to our children have helped us make the improvements that were rightly noted in the inspection. Our children have embraced new challenges and opportunities with enthusiasm, courage and above all else, kindness ”
The school has addressed previous areas for improvement with urgency and commitment. Inspectors praised the curriculum as “ambitious and well sequenced from the early years to Year 6.” Enhancements to the writing curriculum and improved support for staff have strengthened teaching across subjects. The phonics programme, now more consistent and rigorous, is helping more Year 1 pupils read fluently across the curriculum. As the inspector noted, “These steps have made a difference. More pupils in Year 1 are now reading fluently across the curriculum.”
Water Hall’s provision for personal development was recognised as a key strength. Pupils benefit from a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including sports, arts and crafts, and singing. They are also taught strategies to support positive mental health, such as practising gratitude.
Water Hall Primary School remains focused on strengthening its learning systems to ensure every pupil receives the targeted support and guided learning time needed to thrive. Leaders across the school and trust have demonstrated a clear and strategic approach to improvement, with tangible progress already evident. CEO Jamie Clarke reflected: “As a trust, we are deeply proud of the unwavering commitment shown by staff, pupils, families, and the wider community. Their collective efforts continue to shape Water Hall’s journey of growth and excellence.”
