Elizabeth Woodville School has been on a vast improvement journey since joining the trust. Ofsted inspectors visited both sites, in Roade (North) and Deanshanger (South), in November 2022 and the school was rated good in four out of five areas; behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and sixth-form provision. The quality of education was good in some areas but inconsistent in others and therefore the overall outcome of the inspection was that it requires improvement. The Ofsted inspectors observed “Teachers know pupils well at this school. There are positive and respectful relationships between staff and pupils. Teachers have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and conduct. Pupils demonstrate positive attitudes towards learning. Pupils enjoy attending the school and feel safe”. Having identified a few subjects that require consistency in the way they are taught school leaders have immediately implemented a plan of action to offer a consistently high quality of education in these few subject areas. We are recruiting a number of specialist experienced teachers and are a few strategic moves away from being assessed as ‘good’ overall. This is an exciting journey for the whole school and community. The strong leadership team is ambitious and committed to securing rapid improvement to achieve the good result the school deserves and ultimately providing a better learning environment for all.
