Grace Academy Coventry (GAC) has showcased its Limitless Potential by obtaining a 'Good' rating from Ofsted with Personal Development receiving 'Outstanding'.
In May 2019, GAC joined the Trust alongside fellow Grace Academy schools, Darlaston and Solihull as a school in need of improvement. Since then, the school has undergone a remarkable transformation. It has fostered a positive learning culture that encourages students to achieve high academic goals whilst also becoming well-rounded individuals. The academy's five values of Amazing Grace, Mutual Respect, Genuine Integrity, Limitless Potential and Intentional Excellence were recognised as creating a supportive learning atmosphere for all students. The Ofsted report highlighted that: “Pupils understand and follow ‘The Grace Way’, which includes the values of ‘limitless potential’ and ‘mutual respect’. Relationships between pupils and staff are courteous and respectful.”
Principal Natasha Whiles stated: “We are particularly proud to share that we received an Outstanding grade for Personal Development…due to our exceptionally strong emphasis on our students’ personal development. Over the last three years, we have relentlessly focused on raising the standard of education for our young people, whilst also focusing significantly on the development of culture, character and experience of school through the Grace Way - the report says "The school 'puts its arm around the community'" - and it is testament to this work that we have received such prestigious recognition in this category.”
The inspectors also observed that parents and carers are highly satisfied with the quality of education their children receive at the Academy, with one parent stating: "Grace Academy is a beautiful school that teaches more than academics. They have a way of teaching the children empathy for others."
The Academy’s Sixth Form also received high praise from the inspectors. They stated: “Students in the sixth form are positive about their learning experiences and the wider opportunities the school provides. Sixth form teachers engage students in ambitious, challenging and independent learning. This enables students to achieve well. Students make a significant contribution to supporting younger pupils, for example by acting as mentors.”
Principal Natasha Whiles said: “It is [the students’] belief in their Limitless Potential that has allowed this school, after 14 years, to be recognised in this way through our commitment to Intentional Excellence. We want to continue providing a great quality of education for all our students and are pleased that we have made such an impact over the last few years and look forward to continuing to do so.”
We, as a trust, are incredibly proud and inspired by the hard work of all the staff, students, parents, and the wider community. They have been instrumental in working together to achieve the 'Good' award. We look forward to seeing the school continue to flourish and guide all students to explore their limitless potential.
